王氏族谱原序翻译后：树木有根，流水有源，根深的树木才能枝繁叶茂，源头远的流水才能流的长，根源怎么能忘记呢所以说，枝叶繁茂的树木不去查访根本在哪里，幽深美丽的水不去寻找它的水源，忘记了本源的所在，又于心何忍？何况时日久了之后，不分辨根在哪里就不知道哪个是本枝哪个是分支，不知道源泉在哪里，能够分辨哪个是主流哪个是支流的人就非常稀少了！我常看到水流与树木而产生感叹，现在“祖”“宗”就是“本”（树根）“源”，子孙就是树枝和水流，从高曾祖父到伯叔兄弟，子子孙孙都是根源产生的分支的区别啊！因此想要推本寻源，排立家谱，不能单纯的把家谱当做籍录，世系的记录。试着读它时要能够对本家和旁支都能够了如指掌，一个本枝，九族就好像贯穿起来的珠子一样，有先有后，含有节节相生的寓意。记录过往连续不停，根本源流可以从这里查找，怎么会不宗派（家系中的分支）分明，我们的族谱遭受了闯王制造的灾难，丢失了很久，族中的长辈都传说家族本来是山西洪同县籍贯，原来东面地方人口稀少，从明朝永乐年间征发到东面的人很多，都散布到了不同的地方，传说我的祖先兄弟三人一同来到了东面的地方，一个去了北方，一个去了南方，但是都失去了考证，我的祖先就居住在静邑西南境东。
